United Nations Security Council Issues Sanctions List Update under Resolution 1267

The United Nations Security Council administers two sanctions regimes of particular relevance to reporting entities in Myanmar, each overseen by its own Committee.

The first is the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities (the “ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee”), which maintains the consolidated list of persons and entities designated in connection with terrorism and the financing of terrorism.

The second is the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006), which administers the sanctions regime concerning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, including measures directed at the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

 

The Update of 18 August 2026

On 18 August 2026, the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee issued press release SC/16435, announcing amendments to entries on its consolidated sanctions list. The persons and entities affected, together with their identifying particulars, are set out in that press release and are reflected in the consolidated list as currently maintained.
